The Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is one of the best properties in Maui – maybe all of Hawaii – that you can book with points. Go figure it's also notoriously difficult to actually book using your Hyatt points … until now.

We recently uncovered wide-open availability to book the Andaz Maui from now through the end of March 2024, with standard rooms bookable from 35,000 to 45,000 World of Hyatt points per night. Aside from a dry spell in September, this means you can lock in a stay at one of Maui's best properties on points most days whether you're planning a trip to Hawaii this summer, in the fall, or through next winter. It's the best availability we've ever seen for what's typically a very stingy property when using points.

The Andaz Maui is a category 8 property in Hyatt's portfolio, which means that most nights will run you 40,000 points. That may seem steep, but that's as good as it gets for a high-end resort like this. And since cash rates are routinely over $1,000 a night, it's a fantastic way to use some Hyatt points – or even transfer some Chase points to your Hyatt account and book.

Plus, Hyatt's peak- and off-peak award pricing system means you may see rooms bookable for as few as 35,000 points a night – or as much as 45,000 points during busy times like much of January and February 2024.

Nobody from the Thrifty Traveler team has personally stayed at the property, but it regularly gets great reviews. Unlike some other high-end resorts in Maui's fancy Wailea district, the Andaz is located beachside.

You won't pay any pesky resort fees on World of Hyatt award bookings – something that can add up fast in Hawaii. And if you have Hyatt's top-tier Globalist status, you'll also get free parking at the resort.

Here's everything you need to know if you are thinking about booking this deal.

How to Book the Andaz Maui at Wailea

  • There is now standard room award availability at the Andaz Maui at Wailea on most dates from now through the end of March 2024, as of publication.
  • With the exception of September 2023, most months have at least 20 nights with standard room availability bookable from 35,000 to 45,000 points per night.
  • Log in to your World of Hyatt account, search the property, add your dates, and make sure you select “Use Points” before clicking “Find Hotels.”
  • Try searching for one-night reservations at a time to ensure every night of your planned stay is available. If not, Hyatt will show you far-more expensive suite availability – or nothing at all.

You should be able to easily find availability to book a standard room with one king bed or two queen beds.

Current Andaz Maui at Wailea Award Availability

Award availability is pretty wide open from May through March of 2023. With the exception of September, all months over that span have at least 20 nights with bookable standard room award availability from 35,000 to 45,000 points per night.

To start, log into your Hyatt account search of the property. You can click the “Points Calendar” option, highlighted below. Fair warning: This won't show you actual availability that you can book with your points, but it can help you identify nights that have either off-peak (35,000 points per night) or standard (40,000 points per night) award space.

Once you start searching for your actual trip, nailing down a four- to five-night stay or longer may require some trial and error. If just one night of your stay is unavailable, Hyatt will only show you higher-priced suite availability … or maybe nothing at all. You might want to search one day at a time to ensure there's standard room availability for each date of your planned stay.

Lucky for you, as of publication, the calendar is pretty wide open. So you shouldn't have a hard time

Bottom Line

There is great standard room award availability at the Andaz Maui at Wailea in Hawaii starting this month and running all the way through March 2024. That means you can book a room for as low as 35,000 points, depending on what time of year you go.

While not every day within that window is bookable, we've never seen this much award availability at one of the best properties you can book with points in Hawaii. We don't know how long this award space will last, so we would suggest booking quickly if you are interested!

  • The biggest problem is they are usually undesirable rooms. Like ones almost below ground – “garden view”
